This proposal emerged from an image archive documenting the shadows of trees and plants against the urban landscape. For months, we have observed and traced these ephemeral patterns that continue to captivate us. From this starting point, we decided to translate that contrast into a material form that seeks to preserve the captured moments and shapes through a constellation of metal pieces. Conceiving of shadow as mass allowed us to delve into the idea of the meta-shadow: a shadow that projects itself. In this way, the shadows collected in our shared archive abandoned their original condition, transforming and reproducing themselves in a new state.
By materializing shadows in metal, the work presents a paradox: it seeks to immortalize the instantaneous while simultaneously acknowledging its inevitable transformation. Each module of the piece functions as a captured fragment that, rather than remaining fixed, remains open to the possibility of continued change.
This version aims to preserve the poetic and conceptual tone of the original while reading naturally in contemporary art and exhibition contexts.
